The Mission, In One Sentence
To be the manufacturing partner that lets brands build the products they actually want to make, at the scale they can actually afford.
That sentence sounds simple. Delivering it is not. Most premium Turkish factories set MOQs at 500-1,000 pieces per color per style, because the machine time, fabric buying, and QC cost of a smaller run doesn't fit their operational model. That threshold quietly kills the exact independent brands that drive streetwear's cultural energy, the ones dropping first collections, testing new palettes, launching capsule collabs. Istanbul Clothing Factory was built around solving that gap without dropping quality standards.
Why We Exist
When Istanbul Clothing Factory opened in 2009, the Istanbul textile district was dominated by two models. On one end, low-cost cut-and-sew shops running fast-fashion volume at questionable labor standards. On the other, high-end premium factories accepting only 1,000+ MOQ from established European retail chains. Between those poles there was almost no home for the emerging brand with a tight capsule, a real tech pack, and a real quality bar, but not yet the capital or forecast to commit to 1,000 pieces per SKU.
We chose to build the operational rigour that makes 150-piece runs sustainable: standardised fabric library so we buy in mill-friendly lots, a shared cutting floor that batches multiple client orders into single markers, in-house print and embroidery so we don't pay outsource setup fees per client, and merchandisers who can carry twelve small brand accounts each without losing detail. That's the mission in daily practice.
What We Solve
Three concrete problems, in order of how often they come up on the first client call:
- The 500-piece cliff. Emerging brands hit it every time. Our 150 MOQ lets a debut label drop three colorways of one hoodie for roughly the same commitment as a single 500-piece run elsewhere. Design testing, market feedback, sell-through data, all become possible without betting the runway on one bet.
- Certification-heavy retail buyers. Zalando Premium, Nordstrom, Selfridges, Highsnobiety Shop, About You, every mid-tier and premium retailer now asks for a stack of supplier documents (BSCI, OEKO-TEX, sometimes SEDEX or GOTS). Emerging brands often can't answer this from their existing supply chain. We answer it out of the box, with current audit reports available under NDA.
- Communication latency. Distance kills small brands. Slow email replies, translated tech-pack notes, misread color calls, week-long sample delays, each one compounds. Our merch team is fluent in English, German, French and Turkish, answers WhatsApp during work hours, and delivers first samples in 10-14 days after tech pack sign-off. Speed of iteration is a design tool, not a nice-to-have.
How We Measure Success
Mission statements without measurement are wall decoration. We track four numbers internally and share progress with our team every month:
- Client retention. Percentage of brands that place a second order within 12 months of their first shipment. This is the single truest signal that the relationship worked.
- On-time shipment rate. Percentage of orders that ship within the confirmed shipping window from PO. Missing this number is more expensive to the client's runway than a small quality issue would be.
- First-sample approval rate. Percentage of first samples the client approves without a second sampling round. High number means our tech pack reading and internal QC gate are calibrated correctly.
- Sustainability metrics. Percentage of production in organic (OCS/GOTS) or recycled (RCS/GRS) inputs, per-unit water use in dye house, energy source mix, and packaging recyclability. We publish year-over-year movement to clients on request.
What This Means for a Client
Practically: we say yes to the small drop as seriously as we say yes to the 15,000-piece order. Same fabric sourcing, same cutting-floor rigour, same in-house print and QC gate, same shipping documentation, same account management cadence. The MOQ is a starting point, not a service tier, a first-collection brand is not a smaller version of a mid-market brand's supplier relationship; it's the same relationship at a different scale.
Frequently Asked Questions
To bridge visionary streetwear brands with Istanbul's craft manufacturing tradition, starting at 150 pieces per color/style so emerging brands can build without over-committing capital.
Because most premium Turkish factories won't accept orders below 500-1,000 pieces per color, which shuts out the independent brands driving streetwear's cultural energy. We built the operational rigour that keeps quality intact at 150 MOQ.
Client retention, on-time shipment rate, first-sample approval rate, and independent audit renewal (BSCI, SEDEX, OEKO-TEX). Numbers shared internally every month.
No. 150 MOQ is the entry point. Our capacity (120+ production staff, 50M+ units produced) regularly runs 5,000-15,000 pieces per style per season for established mid-market brands.
